and for a spyware buster program, look at spy sweeper. i tried it, and it found several spy programs that neither ad-aware nor spybot found... interesting stuff.

Well andy as to all of that, I think your paranoid. If people are gonna get into your omputer its gonna be with a virus and they wont care at all what they are killing on your computer. That or it will be targeted to send out the kystrokes for bank accounts and the like. Meaning that encrypting the files, has done no good.
I mean I can see the practical purpose of encrypting passwords and log ons and such, but you shouldn't be writing those down any way. If you want to keep the governement out, say they seize your computer, they will get your data no matter what. They can now recover errased and magnetized data, they are better than you can ever be as an amature. Unless you start writing your own code, its pointless.
The things they can find out about you are what you download and any one can watch that. No amount of encryption on your files will save them from seeing what web sites you go to or what you download. I can see a lot more sence in constantly changing your IP address and clearing out your history than any of this other silly stuff.
I mean hell, my counter keeps track of when you come to visit my blog. A billion other sites do the same thing. You want to do some good, then spend your time isolating your computer from others. Put up killer firewalls, rerout your ISP or go anonomouse, though keep in mind some times own't allow that.
But any way, thats my speil about how I think encryption is really a waste of time. Any one smart enough to hack your files, is smart enough to decrypt them.
Yes there are ways to get around encryption. But what kind of fun is just opening files the normal way? Puzzles are great! Yay for encription and puzzles and emails! And it's always nice to be able to get rid of those pesky little viruses. And did I mention that puzzles are fun?
