Fine, new post

OK, so I will update.

Nothing has been going on. I have not found a place for Beth and me to live yet. I did put my name on the waiting list for the apartment complex that paul is going to live at. The 2 bedrooms there are quite reasonably priced, and its a nice family friendly place, not college-y at all.

Similarly, not much has been going on at work. I am putting the LSAT class together, and its coming slowly. We'll be starting the class in 4 weeks or so, which is nice, since that'll give me the time I need to get it right. BUt aside form that, work is work.

Also, school is out, so nothing is going on there. Although there was a point of interest recedntly. Apparently, the professor of Contracts made an error. Now, for some back story, Crandall, the prof, was going to a new school after the spring semester. He was displeased with FSU, and thinks his poo is vanilla scented. So anyway, we the students knew he was gonna screw us over somehow. What he did was this: He taught 2 Contracts classes. He gave the final for both classes together. Fine so far, right? Then he graded the 2 classes together, and curved them in one curve together. This is the not fine part. The way the curve works is standard. Top 5% get As, bottom 5% get Ds, and the rest are sorted in the middle, i think 45/45 or something like that. So if he would have had 2 curves, essentially 10% of both of his classes would have gotten As, as opposed to the 5% that got them for real. Similarly, 10% would have got Ds, while only 5% got them. Seems like it sort of balances out, right? Well, one of the students delved into it, and found that the other class got better grades than us, almost across the board. Their average was several points higher than us. Basically our class got lower grades because he curved both classes together. So the guy who looked into it originally decided to appeal. The 2 deans he talked to thought it wasnt a problem that Crandell curved both classes together. Of course, I have known for a while that the school will always side with the professors over the students. But in this case, the problem is more obvious. FSU law has a rule book. One of the rules states that if you have 2 classes, you need 2 curves. No ifs, ands, or buts. So now we get to appeal to the real FSU to make them force FSU law to follow the rules... I have just decided that I will appeal. The reasona I will do this is principle. i do not know what I got in Contracts 2, nor do I really care. However, I think that FSU law has gone too far in their blind backing of teachers. They screwed me once, and while they may or may not be screwing me again, I think its BS. Rules are rules. If they keep screwing with students, I'll just form a protest group. Just kidding... sort of...

Anyhow, I'm off to work now...

Your moment of zen:

vanilla scented poo eh? I should learn that

I would just like to know, they are teaching lawyers, do they not expect you guys to try to find loop holes and such? I think guy who did all the back research deserves an A as he has passed the 'real world' final. If a student in his class was a client, he would have won

Great observation Crystal.

Andy, the protester, I think you should go for it. I want to see it in the news, "Protests by law students at Florida State University".

:D
